330GT 2+2 Mk1 one of 44 original UK right hand drive cars ordered new from Maranello concessionaires by the first owner in Kent England on the 9th July 1964 and consequently invoiced to Maranello from SEFAC Ferrari factory Modena on 28th August 1964 in metallic blue(20.454) with grey VM3230 hide and chrome wire wheels.
Since then several owners have enjoyed this car and there is a huge history file incorporating original correspondence with the factory and Maranello, old mot’s, original 330 handbook, many job sheets relating to works carried out whilst the car was in stock at Modena and then relating to works carried out whilst in storage and recently a wealth of invoices from marque specialist Terry Hoyle and detailed photographic records of a back to metal respray.
The penultimate owner was Mr Alfayed who purchased the Ferrrai dealer Modena Engineering in East Horsley along with all the stock, there lies another story. The cars were put into storage in Dec1989 at Mr Alfayeds house and there they remained until June 2004 when the collection was auctioned by Christies. Since then the car has been restored back to the original blue with grey colour scheme, been serviced and some attention has been given to the gearbox.
In a recent Classic and Sportscar article November 2009 issue this model is rated highly over the Maserati Sebring and Aston Martin DB6. With the 2 seater 330/365GTC’s ranging from £130k to £225k these 330 GT 2+2 Pininfarina Coupes represent a sound investment.
